For Deng Jie, design is a way of connecting with the world through observing, understanding, and creating. She pays attention to subtle details in everyday life and, through repeated sensing and reflection, forms her own judgement of beauty and order. She treats life itself as part of her design practice—feeling shifts in colour, material, and rhythm through gardening, cooking, dressing, and arranging her living space—and brings these experiences naturally into her work, seeking a clear and restrained form of expression rooted in real-world context.
Her studies in the Department of Arabic at Beijing International Studies University and in the Graphic Design program at Kuwasawa Design School in Japan form an important foundation for this design approach.
