Good me (古茗) is one of China’s leading freshly made tea brands. To further enhance the drinking experience and strengthen brand recognition, UDL’s industrial design team created a custom lid tailored to the needs of freshly prepared beverages.
Through our research, we found that most lids used in the tea-drink market follow a standardized design logic shaped by mixed beverages, on-the-go consumption, and supply-chain efficiency. Functional elements are often treated separately, resulting in fragmented forms with little coherence and limited brand expression.
Based on extensive research and testing, we focused this project on two key aspects: functional integration and brand expression. A small lid must accommodate multiple requirements at once, including a straw opening, dust-proof plug slot, sealing lip, leak-proof structure, and stacking features, while balancing leak prevention, drinking comfort, stacking efficiency, and cost-effective mass production. We reorganized these structural relationships and design elements, integrating and “concealing” them within a unified form to create a cleaner, more ordered drinking interface.
The straw opening and plug slot were combined into a gourd-shaped detail, echoing Good me’s core brand symbol. In this way, functional structure also becomes a carrier of brand identity.
Though used only briefly, a tea lid shapes the consumer’s very first impression of the product. In an increasingly competitive tea market, these subtle details often define whether a brand feels thoughtful and refined. This lid reflects Good me’s continued attention to user experience—bringing together function, structure, and brand language in a form that feels fluid, restrained, and easy to use.
