What does the next generation of manual razors look like?
Our answer goes beyond sharpness. It lies in a more systemic approach to design innovation, engineering, and product evolution.
The UDL Industrial Design Team partnered with men’s personal care brand MAKE SENSE in a multi-year co-creation process to develop this all-metal manual razor. Combining engineering innovation with design aesthetics, the project sets out to redefine the shaving experience for a new generation of men.
The team traced the history of the razor, mapped the evolution of the category, and conducted extensive user research and concept exploration around Asian male skin, facial hair characteristics, and shaving habits. From product definition and structural design to the blade system and ergonomics, each aspect was iteratively developed and refined.
The result responds to real user needs through a more considered product system, while also rethinking what a contemporary manual razor can be. The new MAKE SENSE All-Metal Razor is now launched.
Through engineering innovation and product design, UDL continues to explore the possibilities of the next generation of manual shaving.
