ALEX KATZ

FLOWER 锦簇

Gladstone Gallery, New York

“They have an image, and they can’t stop. You keep moving on them.” That’s how Alex Katz describes the series of flower paintings he created during the 2020 Covid-19. We were commissioned by the Gladstone Gallery to design a monograph for this series of works from the artist named “Flower”.

A bouquet that can be held in hand – this is how we define this monograph. Folded and wrapped in a transparent cover, seven inner pages present parts of the work in a 1:1 proportion to the real artwork. The featured layout design constructs a special tension between pages, allowing readers to immerse themselves in Katz's continuous and changing large-scale flower works during the reading process.
