Li Xiang and Xing Chen co-founded SDL in Beijing since 2012 and established S-tones Printing in 2016. They became the members of SGDA in 2020.
They have been striving to showcase Chinese design to the international community, helping international top brands such as LOEWE, Maison Margiela, NIKE, JORDAN and others to build numerous communication images based on the Chinese market context. In addition to being deeply engaged in the fashion industry, they have also made their marks in the cultural and consumer sectors, with clients including cabana, delicates, cococean and other commercial brands in the new era.
The two partners lead a team that get inspired from everyday life to produce many experimental works. They run print workshops and record podcasts to encourage design exchange. They also actively participate in the construction of the country image by designing the visual identity system for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup in China. It all comes from their curiosity and experimental spirit by which all the challenges became exciting opportunities for them.
From concept to the production of all related media, materials and processes, they are constantly exploring the tools and language of graphic design, finding the right expression in different media. Their works has won international design awards such as ADC Cube, NY TDC, Tokyo TDC, GDC, The Red Dot Award, HKDA Awards and MDA.
With the belief in collective collaboration, Li Xiang and Xing Chen joined UDL as partners in 2022, continued their design and exploration practices in the pursuit of excellence.
